We’re right in the middle of the festive month and we are all in the mood for getting together and celebrating. If you follow our social media pages, you will know that along with our December Menu, our guests enjoy a glass of Miolo Seival Brut on arrival. This is why we would like to introduce you to this fantastic wine as a unique sample from Brazil, which has been chosen by our experts to welcome our visitors during this festive season.
A tradition that goes back hundreds of years
Toasting is a ritual that has been taking place for centuries across the globe. Run a quick Google search and you’ll find dozens of articles about the different ways of toasting around the world. Present in all continents, it’s fair to say that despite the many differences, the core of this meaningful act remains the same everywhere; a sign of goodwill and celebration. Sometimes, even of hope.
You may be toasting to welcome a new year full of projects, to celebrate an achievement or the gathering of your loved ones. But clearly, the Christmas season is a time in which people are raising their glasses in every corner. For this reason, and as we are aware of the importance of this small gesture, we went out of our way to find the perfect choice for our guests to start the meal, toasting to a lovely evening with people they love with a very special glass of sparkling wine in their hands.
About the wine
Miolo Seival Brut is produced by Grupo Miolo from the Campanha Meridional Region in Brazil. Their Seival Estate Winery is in Candiota in Rio Grande do Sul. This is a place whose perfect location makes it a promising grape-growing area and one of the best wine-producing regions in the world. With 200 hectares, they produce approximately 1.3 million liters of wine a year including our chosen sparkling one.
It is made with the Charmat method using a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes, preserving all the freshness and finesse expressed by these two varieties. This sparkling wine achieves this great freshness with perfectly balanced acidity and a taste that lingers in the mouth. It has delicate aromas of tropical fruits, especially pineapple and melon, and hints of peppermint, and it shows a limpid, light-yellow colour with greenish nuances. It forms an elegant foam crown with a fine, delicate and constant perlage.
Enjoying Miolo along with food and good company
These features make it an ideal wine to enjoy as an aperitif or to make a toast. As their own website says, this wine ‘goes perfectly with moments of fun and joy’. This is the reason why we chose it as our arrival drink to welcome all of you when you come to celebrate with us here at Picanha. It is also perfect to be served along with mix-leaf and tomato salads, and seafood and fish dishes. Its effervescence and acidity go well with high-fat foods and recipes tending to sweet tastes. Therefore, we would also recommend it with our petits fours, which are served to finish the meal as part of our festive menu.
