Meet Cristina, our Kitchen Supervisor

February 10, 2020 | About Us

February has brought a little bit of light and slightly higher temperatures, reminding us that spring is just around the corner. But we are also bringing new things, Chester. It has been a while since we last introduced you to a member of our little family. So it is now time that you get to know Cristina Pérez  (our Kitchen Supervisor here at Picanha) a little bit more.

From the South of Spain to the North of England

Two years ago, Cristina left sunny Córdoba in the South of Spain and moved to Chester in search of a new challenge. Also motivated by the will to improve her English, Cristina had a friend who was already working with us at Picanha. He encouraged her to apply for a job as soon as a position became available and after a successful interview, she joined our little family as a kitchen porter.

She learned quickly, and soon after she moved to the kitchen, where she found a new passion that has led her into her current and most recent role as Kitchen Supervisor.

About the job…

She tells us she has really enjoyed working with us precisely because of the fact that she’s been able to explore, grow and develop herself within the company, which has allowed her to reach her new role. She also explains how her time at Picanha has helped her to improve her customer service skills, which hasn’t been the easiest challenge, as the language was an obstacle for her that she feels she’s finally overcome.

But what she absolutely loves about working at Picanha is trying and learning about all the different cuts of meat and all different rodizio techniques. Since most of our passadores are Brazilian, she gets to know all about the cultural differences across the whole of Brazil when it comes to this traditional way of cooking and serving meat.

Hobbies and time outside of work

We asked Cristina about what she likes to do in her free time. She says that whenever the weather allows it, she likes to go out for walks, watch new shows and study to improve her English even more. She also enjoys meeting her colleagues outside of work to have a drink or go for dinner.
